MON(S)TRE: Anthony LE SAOÛT, Daphné PARROT, Yann POYAC, Geoffroi RIDEL, Charles SCHNECK

What more can I say about these young guys coming up with such wonderful animated worlds.

Après la Pluie: Gobelins

Another one of the student's film form Gobelins. I like the design and execution of the story.

Perspectives: Georges Schwizgebel

Born in Reconvilier, Switzerland, in 1944, Georges Schwizgebel is among the biggest name in contemporary animation. This well-rounded author of 15 short films has seen his work pick up prizes at Cannes, Annecy, Zagreb, Hiroshima, Stuttgart, Ottawa and Espinho. Two of his films-78 R.P.M. (1985) and The Ride to the Abyss (1992)- rank among the hundred most influential animated films on a list published by the Festival d’Annecy in 2006. The Man without a Shadow (2004), his first collaboration with the National Film Board, garnered 19 international awards. Though he first used rotoscoping (Perspectives, 1975: Off-side, 1977), Schwizgebel later traded in this tool for a freer approach marked by the gestural application of colour and the frequent use of geometric shapes (Fugue, 1998; The Young Girl and the Clouds, 2000).

La maison en petits cubes: Kunio Kato

Here is the brilliant La maison en petits cubes, 2009 winner at the Oscars. I love Kato's work.

A Lilt: Overture

It always refreshing to see animations that go beyond the conventional methods of animated storytelling. A Lilt by Overture certainly falls into that refreshing new look category. Overture was born of Jason Malcolm Brown and Aya Yamasaki Brown in the final days of August, 2004. A focal point where their creative intertwined, Aya and Jason created an opera house where all the peoples of their worlds could perform and be entertained. As the opening to an opera, Overture stands to introduce and describe these worlds through their work. Overture can be found at opertura.org/ [1] [1] http://www.opertura.org/

КJFG No 5: Alexey Alexeev

This film is doing quite well in  festival circuits, enjoy.

Mermaid: Osamu Tezuka

Time to celebrate the masters. Here is Mermiad by Tezuka, released in 1964. A boy sees a mermaid, everyone calls him crazy and forces him into an institute to rid him of his delusions.

Iron Man vs Bruce Lee: Patrick Boivin

Great stop motion done with with toys. Way to go Patrick.

Derevo Detstva: Mirzoyan Natalia

I came across this film through a link in a Russian language website. Natalia has a channel on youtube  ( http://www.youtube.com/user/natamir22 ) . In spite of it being in a language I don't understand, I enjoyed the film.

From the Hoop: The Hoop team from Supinfocom

Soon the animation world will be ruled by the brilliant students from Supinfocom, brilliant. Following from the team... From the hoop is a short 3D movie directed by 3 students of Supinfocom Arles in 2008. Meet Earl fleeing through Harlem while he seeks for his life. fromthehoop.com [1] The story is widely inspired by the life of Earl Manigault, one of the greatest basketball player of his generation who lose everything in drugs. The end of his life was dedicated to avoid children of Harlem having the same story. So he started the "Walk Away From Drugs" tournament for kids. He died in 1998 from a heart failure. Please have a look at the making of on our website for further informations. [1] http://www.fromthehoop.com/

No Corras Tanto: Cesarlinga

I hope I have credted the right person for direction as I couldn't make out the language. Sand animation has always had a certain look in my mind, but this piece defies every notion. Well thought out short with beautifully executed animation.

Horn OK Please: Joel Simon

You don't see much short animation from India. Here is a nice example created by animators from India and Ireland.
